Click Migrate or Product Compatibility Check. One of these appears in the ePO Product Compatibility Check
dialog box:
No incompatible products were found — Continue to step 3.
The compression process can take several minutes on an enterprise McAfee ePO server.
A list of incompatible products — This is a list of blocked and disabled extensions. Use this list to
replace the blocked extension with compatible versions, then retry the Product Compatibility
Check.
If an extension is disabled, it does not block the upgrade, but the extension isn't initialized
after the McAfee ePO upgrade until a known replacement extension is installed.
Failed to load the list of installed products for your ePO installation — This indicates the Product
Compatibility List file is not available, or the information you typed to access the source
McAfee ePO server was incorrect. Return to step 2c and try again.
If you interrupt the migration file creation process, start the process over again to create a new
file.
Status displays the file creation status and Migration Completed appears when the process is
complete.

On the upgrade server:
a
Download the McAfee ePO 5.1.0 software from the McAfee website.
The software is in the downloaded McAfee ePO installation file.
You can also copy the McAfee ePO 5.1.0 software from the existing McAfee ePO 4.x server where
you downloaded it.
b
Extract the files to a temporary location, find the folder UpgradeCompatibility, and
double-click UpgradeCompatibility.exe.
c
Copy the McAfee ePO data file you created to the upgrade server.
If you have McAfee
®
VirusScan
®
Enterprise installed on the upgrade server, disable the On-Access
Scan before you migrate your version 4.x files to your 5.1.0 server.
d
Under Server Type, click Target.
e
Click Input File and browse to where you copied the source configuration file. By default the file is
stored as C:\Migrate.zip.
f
Click Migrate to extract and convert McAfee ePO configuration files to 5.1.0 or later configuration
files.
Status displays the file extraction status and Migration Completed appears when the process is done. The
extraction process can take several minutes on an enterprise McAfee ePO server.
If you interrupt the migration file extraction process, restart the upgrade McAfee ePO 5.1.0 server
and start the migration process over again to extract the file.
4
Run the upgrade described in Upgrade your McAfee ePO server.
All your existing McAfee ePO 4.x server configuration files are copied to your McAfee ePO 5.1.0 or later
server. You are now ready to run the ePolicy Orchestrator software upgrade.
If your McAfee ePO upgrade fails and you have migrated and run the upgrade to McAfee ePO 5.1.0,
revert to the backup database on your version 4.x server.
